The flower with the horrible name

Last month the lanes were lined with frothy cow parsley Now its more sturdy cousin, giant hogweed, has taken over. The lane down to Bookham Common was quiet enough for me to be able to stop and take my blip. Standing at least five feet tall its flowers were at a level that made them easy to photograph. The individual flowers are beautiful, how sad they have such an ugly name!

It is a calm sunny evening, and the gentle tones of the commentators on the final moments of the test match are the sound of summer. With half an hour to go, the match could go either way!
