Kommonwealth Kelpie

Not sure why I felt so hard done by as it rained through the morning and afternoon, guess it's been a while and it scuppered any chance of me doing the planned outdoor DIY activities. That was a shame.

Cleared later on though so decided to take a cycle over to see the Commonwealth baton finish up its day's winding around the Falkirk leg of its journey to Glasgow, over at the Helix Park and under the watchful gaze of the Kelpies.

Had a good spot picked out too, until all the late arrivers crammed in and decided to shove in front with their smartarsephones wafting around above their heads. So I climbed up on a nearby some electricity cabinet and got this even better spot. Would've been a shame if any of them had fell in the canal in their effort to try and get that special shot that'll stay stuck on their phone for the foreseeable future.

Got chatting to an interesting chap from Canada who was on a tour of Scotland, scattering his father's ashes he said. Told me he was a 'swordsman' and had worked on the film Gladiator with Russell Crowe and was heading over to Stirling this weekend to take part in the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn events, even though I didn't see any sword on his bike or in his rucksack. He also told me he'd met a woman two days ago in Skye, who was from London, and had hit it off so well that she had already committed to pack up and move in with him when he came to live in Inverness next year. Must've been the paper saltires on his bike handlebar that made here swoon, that and the food stains down the front of his T-shirt.

The baton makes it's way through the Wee County next, so there could be a repeat (sans Kelpies) on the cards this time tomorrow.
