Dunure Castle and Doocot, Dunure, Ayr, Scotland

Fabulous wee place for a visit. Has a a place to eat/drink, an ice-cream shop/store and not a lot else which makes it so special. Parking on grass up above the harbour by the castle is only £2 and has a neat, fenced-in play area for the kids and a clean toilet. If it is a weekend or holiday don't even try parking down at the harbour as you will only get frustrated. It is a very easy walk down for the able.
The beach is famed for semi-precious stones that are gathered and polished etc. Occasional neanderthals leave picnic rubbish on the shore so a poly bag is useful if you want to show some green awareness.
