Seilebost

Today we headed down to Harris to see the beautiful beaches and mountains.
It’s been five years since I was here last and had almost forgotten how stunning it is. In my opinion, on the right kind of day Harris can compete with anywhere in the world. (My quick iphone shot doesn’t really do it justice)
Later we joined our hosts for a Lewis tradition of herring and tatties. News of the first herring of the season is eagerly awaited (we saw a few signs up declaring today was the day) Stornoway has long had links with the herring industry and there is a statue honouring the Stornoway “Herring Girls”
I have to say I’m a convert and will look out for herring in future.
