The New Zealand kererū

I rescued this chap today. He was sitting on our driveway unable to fly. I took him to the Department of Conservation as they are a protected species. They will assess him and see whats up and hopefully send him to a bird rescue centre. I had to take a couple of pictures first. Such a beautiful bird. I hope they can help him and bring him back. He is one of a pair that spend most of their time roosting in our trees.
