Market in Delft

Every Thursday there's a weekly market in Delft at its square that's positioned between the Nieuwe Kerk (the New Church, here in the picture) and its (old) Town Hall . The square is considered as one of Europe's larger historical markets (120x50 metres). Altho' I know no other than Thursday is Delft's market day I just read in Wikipedia that this is the case since the 11th century... oh:)

So since ages goods like dairy products and veges and fruits + clothes & shoes are sold in Delft market. Up till a few years ago the stalls were lined in lanes and shopping at the market was a pleasant event as the market was structured.

One of Delft's citycouncillors got his plans accepted of restructuring the display of the marketstalls what resulted in stalls clustering together in blocks what makes the customers meander more than before across the market. Today I missed the old make up of the market and also some sales(wo)men who's stopped since the changes.

Delft also has a weekly market on the Saturdays + a antiques market on the Saturdays in Summertime
