Train Shed

At High Wycombe Railway Station this morning, on my way up to Derby to spend the weekend with Mum.

This building is the original engine shed and train station for High Wycombe, built in 1854 and designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel as part of the Great Western Railway. It was disused for several years, but now it's been given a face lift with this hand painted mural on its facade. The open ground in front of the building has also been transformed, with preparation of a floral lawn, raised planters, green climbers and a wildflower poppy meadow to link with First World War centenary activities.

A great example of an imaginative piece of civic planning.
