Rhine viewpoint (Vierseenblick) above Boppard

A twenty minute chairlift ride and a short walk bring you to this delightful café. Its proprietor - seen in the middle here - proudly explains that every day his wife bakes the cakes for sale. They live up here throughout the year; during the winter snows a variety of wild animals, including deer and wild boar, come to their door to ask for food.

The views and cakes make this a worthwhile trip. The sharp bends in the Rhine as seen from here give the impression that there are four separate lakes; two of these "lakes" can be seen in this photo.
