25 for 25 Campaign

Today I was at the launch of a fundraising campaign for a Charity I support. They are now 25 years old and were started by parents unhappy with the prospect their children with learning disabilities were likely to end up in long term institutional care in hospital. A friend of mine was the community worker who supported the parents group at the time. The charity called Fair Deal has come a long way and do some excellent work. So, in their 25th year they are trying to raise £25k and this was the launch of that campaign. It took place in the City Chambers in Glasgow which is a superb venue but nothing was as superb as the woman at the centre of this pic telling everyone how good her life is and how much better it is since leaving 'hospital'. It was incredibly moving and a reminder that we must never treat people like that again.
