Speirs Wharf, Glasgow

During the 19th Century, Speirs Wharf was at the hub of Glasgow’s industrial revolution, with work commencing on the first phase of its development in 1811.

In 1851, the City of Glasgow Grain Mills & Stores was owned by John Currie & Co followed. Subsequent additions followed between 1869 and 1870. Originally the mills had 20 pairs of mill stones and a 100 horse power condensing engine.

Of course, the wharf is now a mixed development of flats, offices and retail.
