The Red Arrows over Stirling Castle.

MaggieD and I were up and off pretty sharp this morning. Considering the potential traffic chaos through Bannockburn and into Stirling, we went over to Larbert and took the train. Correct decision! Even the train was busy as was the station and the city centre. We walked out and found space towards the Smith Gallery and awaited the big parade. Yesterday was for "amateur" pipe bands but today was the turn of the military; bands, serving soldiers and veterans.
After the big parade, we headed uphill to the "Ladies Rock" which has good views out over the Carse. Almost missed the Tornado which roared across and vanished but the Apache helicopter gave a wonderful display (I am sure glad they are on our side!)
Sadly the Sea Fury and the old Swordfish torpedo bomber didn't show, possibly due to adverse weather. We heard but almost missed seeing the Tempest before the rain came down. As it looked to be on for a while, we decided to cut and run for home so we missed the Battle of Britain Memorial flight - spotted them through the train window - a real pity.
After collecting the car we drove up to Bridge of Allan and took a little back road on to the Carse where we stopped up to await the arrival of the Red Arrows. What a show they put on! Fifteen minutes of non-stop thrills and not even the dreaded midgie could spoil the show. Home again now, tired but very happy!
