Thistle Down

By Ethel

Mouse in the Well

Mouse in the well,
Twenty feet down.
Poor innocent creature,
That had to drown.

Mouse in the well,
Leaving all his kin.
Just crawling along a pole,
And tumbled in.

Mouse in the well,
Stiff and saturated.
There is a great need,
To get him eliminated.

Mouse in the well,
Poor thing, poor thing.
Seeing his plight,
No notes can I sing.

Mouse in the well,
There is no doubt.
I will let down the bucket,
And pull him out.
