Electric blue

Not the intended full day in the garden, due to some heavy, squally showers. Quite a bit of gardening even so, and ticked off a few more things on the 'to do' list too.

Warning - rant ahead!
This week our kettle stopped working - the third one to break in 3 years. It seems that electric kettles are designed to last only for a year, just long enough to outlast the guarantee period. Grrrr! Am I the only person who's totally pissed off fed up with having to buy poor quality products that are made in a far away country and shipped half-way round the world? What a waste of energy and resources. I'd happily pay twice as much - or more - for a well-made product, manufactured in the UK, with a genuine 5-year guarantee. But, as far as I can see, that choice doesn't exist...

Didn't realise, until we switched it on, that the replacement kettle has an illuminated water gauge. Not entirely sure why this is necessary or desirable, but there we go!
