Not Enough for a Pie

As I said yesterday the District nurse did a good job dressing the GOG’s wound. However, at 2300 hours last night the ‘Vac’ pump gave out alarm sounds and warnings that the thing was blocked. We decided against going to A and E last night as it was a Saturday night and as we know from experience, it would be heaving with late night drunks and druggies as well as other genuinely poorly people.

Instead we went this morning, we were lucky as there was an experienced nurse on who knew exactly how to deal with this kind of wound and ‘Vac’ pump, which is unusual in this role, although it is often used in orthopaedics. The thing was indeed blocked because the hole that had been cut for the suction was not quite large enough. It was re-dressed swiftly and then we had coffee on the concourse, before coming home, just to make sure that it was still working okay.

The GOG has spent most of the rest of the day asleep, due mainly to his lack of sleep during the night as the alarm kept ‘beeping’ all night. Me? I can sleep through anything!

Today’s picture is of some very small Brambly apples on one of our trees, which hopefully by September will be big enough for a pie.
