A Peep Thru the Pinhole

By Brian1943

It's 1940 again.

Each year, over the last weekend in June and the first in July the Severn valley Railway (SVR) holds 1940s weekends at all stations along its route from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth. The area comes alive with people wearing 1940s outfits and service uniforms, relevant period dress styles, and props that speak of the times, e.g. heavy brown suitcases, milk churns on platforms, retro seaside posters and other artefacts.

The SVR (steam train route) is one of the two MAIN tourist attractions in the area in which I live - the other being the West Midlands Safari Park. The 1940s weekends are light-hearted in tone (no jingoism or anything like that) and are very popular.

I'll try to find the opportunity to capture another 1940s blip sometime during next Saturday or Sunday.
