Brockenhurst

Instead of heading down to the chalet as expected Ann sprung a surprise and informed me we were instead booked into a b&b in Brockenhurst in the New Forest as a treat for my birthday.

This is an area I've always wanted to visit but never made it.

Brockenhurst is a quiet village in the national park, ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside and woodlands. The b&b is very comfortable with a great outlook, currently I'm sitting on the bed watching the white doves whilst I write this.

Tomorrow the plan is to go to Salisbury to see if I can trace some of my ancestors' haunts. Something else I've wanted to do for ages.
