Suffolk Sunday lunch

Friends have been renovating a neglected old farmhouse in deepest Suffolk. They invited us to Sunday lunch today to see how it has turned out. What a fabulous transformation, from tired old wreck with overgrown jungle of a garden, to gorgeous light, airy and luxurious home surrounded by lawns and flowers.

Our arrival was accompanied by house martins swooping low around the car on their insect-gathering activity as we negotiated the long driveway. Lunch was delicious and served with lavish helpings of laughter. We drank in the wonderful views from the house's unusually shaped windows. This is the mesmerising outlook across a corn field from the front sitting room. A Sunday well spent.
