Across Scapa Bay

Between work and the World Cup, I haven't been out much other than on my days off. After watching Holland scrape through against Mexico, I cycled down to Scapa pier. Quiet as far as birds are concerned. A couple of eider and a nice black guillemot. On the way back to town along the Crantit Trail I watched a fledgling stonechat on a bush. This species was really hard hit in Orkney after two very snowy winters and it is only slowly returning to its former haunts, so it was good to see it, especially as I hadn't seen one along this way before. Here's the black guillemot.
