Monument Man

While I'm bustling about, taking photos, John bides his time on the little beach, building monuments of the smooth stones. The name of our town, Scappoose, means Gravelly Plain,named so by the Chinook Indian tribe that used to inhabit this area. The mighty Columbia river makes a sharp turn north near here, and has deposited river rocks in the area for ages.
