Small Tortoiseshell

Making an impact on my butterfly transect yesterday and in the garden this morning, the lovely Small Tortoiseshell seems to have really bounced back from the dire situation a couple of years ago when we were all worried about it. As well as plenty of adults, I have seen at three tight clusters of the jet black caterpillars in nettle patches around the nature reserve. I think we can relax about this species for a while.
