A red palm weevil

The red palm weevil is killing many palm trees in the area. It is a real disaster and a pity to see all these beautiful trees under the threat of this beetle that came from Asia in illegal or irregular imports of palm trees.
We have a palm tree in the garden at home. I wish this 'picudo rojo' will not attack our dear palm tree. We planted it twenty years ago, and it is a magnificent tree now.
