Bird Hide, Rutland Water, Lyndon Centre

We visited Rutland Water yesterday as they have a total of 31 bird hides around the reservoir, which is jointly run by Anglian Water and the Wildlife Trust. The wader scrape hide accessed via the Lyndon Centre (on the South shore) has had recent sightings of water voles; we sat there for well over an hour and did see two sightings of something brown, barrel-shaped and furry dash across a narrow stream, but blink and we would have missed it.

I would have loved to have been able to post a photos of one of these endearing creatures close up...but not to be, hence the view out of the bird hide instead, which was where we ate our lunch, as you can see the view was very tranquil and calming.
