Waverley visits Blairmore

A perfect afternoon - we were headed to the beach with the grandchildren when we suddenly saw PS Waverley gliding past on her way to Blairmore Pier. Smallest grandchild Anna was already fast asleep, but Catriona and her dad leapt from the car to have a look at a legend as she tied up at the pier.

Some day, perhaps, we'll take the girls on Waverley. Meanwhile, I reflect on the unconscious gender typecasting that has us assuming that they might be bored while at the same time confidently planning to take their (male) cousins on a sail later this summer.

The beach, however, suited them admirably. And now there's sand everywhere ...
