Farm Ladies

These are two of our farm workers who live on the farm in Lusangazi
On the left is Joyce who is quite deaf and doesn't speak very well. She is with us for about 5 years and lives with her son Boyd who is in secondary school. Flora is with us foe about a year, her husband Laston in team leader of the seedling production and they have one son.

Alepher wrote the following report on her day, an indication of what she manages to get through.

Hi Boss
Today Felix and myself went to Lunyangwa Research Station where we
met Mr. Msukwa. He is one of the workers you employed as day worker
at the farm a long time ago. He then took our contacts and told us
that Mr. Bushiri, who is the scientist, was not around and at a funeral. Felix and I
looked around the orchard of Macedemia and we were impressed. Felix
decided that we should have Macademia at our farm. We also encountered
the Lab technicians who specialise in soil samples. We booked an
appointment with them and they were very willing to see our farm. They
will then take samples. This will help us to know the nutrients that
our soil has and how much manure to add, especially to our citruses.

Felix is going to Ekwendeni tomorrow to a certain fellow, who has a
wide variety of mango fruits. There, Felix will try to convince him to
spare about five trees of mangos so that they should stop flowering so
as to disturb the natural process. We should be able to take scions
from them. If he is successful, we may need to pay a little bit to
compensate him.

We have employed two guards from Xpress Security Services, one for the
factory and one for the farm. They started today. The prices is MKW
25,000 per guard per month. The contract is for three months. It will
depend on their performance whether we continue their contracts.

Flora has started work today and I have explained to her that she will
be watering the orchards and any other duties assigned to her.

I called Richard from CCODE and he was very happy that we will go to
visit him and he understood that we need to go after they deposit of
money into Wells for Zoe account. Then we will go with a few pumps.

Chris from Zambia, will be coming on the 3rd July, and we will discuss his requirement for a new batch of pumps

We have ordered twenty pipes 63mm class 16 from Mzuzu Promat. We have
paid a cheque, in advance.

Visited Rodgers and Fortunate with food and their funds for the month.
Discussed the lease with Monica

Miss you both,
Bye

Alepher
