The surprise birthday party

How do I even begin to write about today...
We were told that it was someone's birthday so Adelmo and Nuris needed to go into the market to buy some things for a small celebration in the evening, and we needed some things from the market, including paint for the mural, so we joined them for a trip into town.
When we got back, we started work painting the lettering on the mural. Whilst we were painting people were scurrying around up top, and when we finished painting and came up to the terrace people kept trying to distract us and wouldn't let us help so we headed back to our house. We spent a couple of hours desperately searching through our bags for something clean and vaguely party-ish to wear. We got told it was a party for Brandon as it's his birthday on Friday. When we arrived ready for church/the party we were ushered into the new room (eeeee so exciting!) which had been beautifully decorated with streamers and balloons.
So the church service started off as normal (except we were in the new room :D ) and then Adelmo started on a speech about how thankful they were for us and for everything we had come and shared with them. And then they revealed that this was, in fact, a surprise birthday party for us as we won't be here with them on our actual birthdays.
Then some of the kids had prepared little bible verses and shared these with us, then they did mini sketches taking the mick out the different things we each do. They were so accurate which is what made them so hilarious! Then Diana (the daughter-in-law) had made a video out of all the photos from our time here (there were only 2 of me asleep in random places which surprised me!!) with emotional music which very, very nearly made me cry. After, we put on our favourite kids party song, 'Soy una taza' (I'm a cup...it's brilliant, it's a very catchy song all about crockery and cutlery!) and then they put on the happy birthday song they use here. It's about 4 minutes long, which just extends the awkward moment that you get during happy birthday in England, except it's a really lovely song so you can't mind too much! They had bought a huge birthday cake for us too, which was DELICIOUS!
Abi arrived this evening too. It was really good to see her again, and although she had missed the party, there was still fun to be had when she got given her piece of cake and Brandon started a cream fight (the Colombians love to top their cakes with a lot of cream). So much fun, but we all ended up with cream EVERYWHERE... on our clothes, in our hair etc. So a small water fight followed whilst we were cleaning off under the hose. This place is too much fun, I don't think I can leave.
