Plane Spotting!

Living under one of the main flight paths for Manchester Airport its not often we notice planes, (when they go over every three minutes you stop looking).

But glancing up today I was surprised to see something a little different, possibly an RAF or NATO AWACS E-3 Sentry.

AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System)is an airborne radar system designed to detect aircraft, ships and vehicles at long ranges and perform control and command during battle, they are also used for ground surveillance.

information from Wikipedia.org (so it must be true)!

Probably more spectacularly viewed from the side, but by the time I had retrieved my camera, run outside, set the camera, stood as still as possible (no tripod) and snapped you've got a rear view, treated with a cyan filter as otherwise the whole thing was a little grey.
