Out of step

With the weather due to turn tomorrow, spent the whole day with the strimmer and doing various garden tasks. Didn't get to take a single photo so have had to steal one from Angie.

We have managed to keep the number of Chabo chicks down to seven, six of which are shown above. The seventh, born at the same time, is somewhat larger and is probably a mix between normal farmyard chicken and Chabo. Will be interesting to see how it develops. We lost our farmyard cock to a bird of prey back in early spring and have never replaced him. The Chabo cocks do their best to look after the big girls!

Chabos are well known for brooding and we have at least a further three who spend the whole time brooding but we remove the eggs. They refuse to give up!
