Middleport Bottle Oven

Following the visit from Prince Charles last week, Middleport Pottery the last working victorian pottery in the UK is now open to the public.

Today I have been a volunteer guide, and have met some really nice visitors to the factory.

One of the areas I have been manning is the only surviving bottle oven on the site which was last fired in 1965, there were originally 7 bottle ovens at Middleport, the other 6 were demolished in the 1960's.

This is a view of the inside of the bottle oven today, which has images of the ware produced projected onto the walls inside.
