Pool Predicament

This is a photo of the outside of one of the pool's steel wall panels. The light you can see is daylight, shining through the vinyl pool liner, which is the only thing holding back 55,000 litres of water. The panel has corroded because the inlet pipe connection has been leaking, probably for most of the thirty years that the pool's been there.

Fortunately I have the means to drain the pool safely into the sewer, at a manageable rate, so that's happening now. I'd hate to imagine what a sudden rush of water would do do our back yard if the liner gave way.

We'll need to get a quote to see how much a replacement panel is likely to cost and then make a decision as to whether we repair or rip the whole pool out; either option won't be cheap. I'm giving serious consideration to robbing a bank.
