Swallowing

Heavy cloud cover this morning broke the sequence of Sunday sunrises. Knowing that, I stayed later in the warmth of bed. Had a midday run to Western Springs Lake, where the dominant species were mallards, pukeko, geese and swans (black). There were a lot of Australasian coots as well as a few papango (black teal). One shag on a rock.

I liked this shot of a pukeko in the process of swallowing the tuft of grass I had watched it tear out of the ground.
