River Festival

This afternoon we had our friends Maureen, Ian, Jo and James round for a birthday picnic in the garden. The weather stayed fine and we had a good afternoon chatting, eating and drinking.

Later we went down to the river as this weekend Stratford hosts a River Festival. We left it until dusk as the highlight of this evening is a parade of boats, all lit up like Christmas trees, followed by fireworks.

There were lots of people there with stalls and music on the opposite bank. We stayed in the RSC side and watched the boats then, from a very good vantage point, the fireworks which were very good.

I tried a bit of night photography with varying levels of success, but I think this one sums up the mood of the evening.
