1600 Pandas

Today I went to see the exhibition of 1600 paper mache (there may be a typo here as blip wants to make them "macho"!!) pandas on their world tour whilst they are here in Hong Kong.

The 1600 represent the (unbelievably low) number of living pandas left in the wild, and the travelling exhibition is to "raise awareness on conservation, environmentally responsible consumption and sustainability"

For each new venue a number of special pandas are created to reflect local landmarks, so for Hong Kong we have 16 including pandas for the Star Ferries, the Convention Centre and my personal favourite, one wearing a mortar board created for Hong Kong Polytechnic University!

There is a special area where you can go and "hug a panda" or have a "selfie with a panda"but again these are model pandas, not the real thing. The queues to do this were huge, about an hour's waiting time, and $20HK each. I hope the money was going to the World Wildlife Fund, I should have asked!!
