Departure Hanoi

An early morning view of paddy fields in the Red River Delta on taking off from Hanoi. The region is second only to the Mekong Delta in rice production, and yields about 20% of Vietnam's rice production - Vietnam now being the world's second largest rice exporter (second to Thailand).

The Delta is of course one of the settings in Graham Greene's "The Quiet American".
