Galicia

It was raining when we started this morning and as the morning passed and we continued to climb, the visibility got worse. The only way we knew that we arrived in the town of ocebreiro, was the sound of church bells. Our plan was to carry on, but we were chilled to the bone and it didn't look like there would be any change. So we decided to stay put. The Iglesia de Santa Maria Real dates from the 9th century and is the oldest extant church associated directly with the pilgrim way. Suffice to say, we would have missed seeing the interior had we continued in and are happy to have stayed. This delicious Galician soup warmed and restored our spirits.
