Ye Olde Art College

The Old Arts College - Newport

1899
Lord Tredegar sold the land in Clarence Place to Newport College for £4,500, for the new Technical Institute to be built. It took ten more years before the foundation stone was laid and on 29th September 1910, the building was officially opened by Mayor William Blackburn.

1910 - 1996
The building was the home of the Newport Technical Institute from 1910 to 1958 and subsequently the Newport College of Art until 1975. From 1975 to its closure in 1996, the magnificent building was home to the Gwent College of Further Education. Nearly a century of providing the very best in further education.

2012
Today, the building has undergone an outstanding transformation, offering the opportunity for you to create your own history.
The Grade II listed building has been thoughtfully converted into a range of apartments to suite all the needs of modern living, within an historic environment.

Retaining the aura and history of the Old Arts College was paramount in the remodelling that we see today. The entrance hall, staircases and lobbies are barely untouched from the original layout, reflecting a calm austerity and creating a sense of arrival. The stylish presentation of the common areas continues throughout the building and lift access to all floors speed up the journey to your apartment.

Behind the front door of each apartment is where the transformation from former times truly takes place, presenting a truly unique development. An eclectic mix of apartments to suit all needs lie in wait. The structure of the building has led to the creation of a range of one to four bedroom layouts to suit any style of modern day living, in a light and airy environment.

Each apartment has its own individual style - fitted with a range of quality kitchens and bathroom suites. You're sure to find a home to suit your needs. Wherever you are in life's rich cycle, The Old Arts College offers you the perfect home for your future.
