Descent

So we left Hull mid-morning and headed to Sheffield for Stage 2. Plan was to head for one of the Spectator Hubs at Oughtibridge to watch the start of the climb from Coronation Park but due to us coming in from the wrong way and having the car and general circumstances we didn't quite make it. But instead we fluked a very convenient parking spot in the north of Sheffield just where the countryside starts and settled in to catch the descent into the town, kind of the other side of the climb from where we originally wanted to be but it all worked out fine. And all those spectator-lined, dry stone wall-bounded country roads looked ace. Quite a sight.

That's Marcel Kittel, the then-wearer of the maillot jaune in fourth place in the photo by the way. He came down the hill in a large group long after the Sky-led front group and various individuals had flown their way down towards the city. No Stage 3 tomorrow, it's off somewhere else to continue the holidays, which will at least give me a chance to actually watch Stage 1 and 2 on catch-up. Got to be done.

Bike.
