Everyday First Aid

Some thoughtful person in our village arranged a Red Cross training session in our village hall this afternoon. Twelve villagers came along for a two hour session, which was well presented by a cheerful young man who was very good at getting his message across.
The new Everyday First Aid is much less complicated than former training, and gave us all confidence to help in an emergency situation. Mouth to mouth resuscitation is no longer used, for example, and household items such as a packet of frozen peas, a tea towel, a credit card((for removing stings), cling film and even beer can be used!
But the most important thing to do is to call 999, which you can do from your mobile even if the battery is flat.
This session was free, subsidised by Somerset Skills and Learning.
School children are also receiving this training, which is good news!
