Mezcalaria

Our trip inland to Patzcuaro was an uneventful three and a half hour drive, mostly on toll roads. There are five toll booths on the route and at every one there was a Federal Police presence, but we were waved through each time (after a careful review as we pulled up to the checkpoint). It turned out today is the birthday of the owner of home where we will be housesitting for the next two weeks, so a celebration trip to the new Mezcalaria was proposed, and accepted. This is the display of various mezcals and tequilas available for tasting. We, however, were treated to mezcal from various local villages, which came in nondescript green bottles and which led to a late night out on the town.
