Over The Hills & Far Away

As mentioned yesterday a walk was planned for today.  We were away quite early as the weather forecast wasn't that flash.  Overcast but quite mild, but a different story as we got higher.

We walked the ridges with Wellington city on our right, and to the left the west coastline, beautiful farmland, many Perindale sheep and Black Pole cattle.  Way off further to the west was the South Island and this was where the nasty weather was coming from.  Our destination was Mt Kaukau (445 metres) and was it ever blowing a houli there.  We didn't linger and descended rather quickly back into the pretty native busy, a little wet and wind swept.

My blip is yours truly (looking very windswept) with Ella somewhere along the track with some of Wellington behind.

Tonight the parents have gone out for dinner, the grandies are now tucked up and sleeping, Doug & I have just had dinner and now watching the Crusaders playing the Highlanders - a "mainland" grudge match. Half time and The Crusaders are winning 17 - 3 .....happy:)
