Red Spotted Burnet Moth??

I saw this 'beastie/bug' today. After my previous mistake of calling a a damsel-fly a dragonfly, I looked this up on t'internet. I am fairly sure this is a moth, but I thought initially it was a butterfly? who knew?.... probably a lepidopterist (another web search)
