Day 29: Srebrenica

I went to the commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide today.

This photo shows the coffins of those that were being buried. There were 175 this year, meaning that around the remains of 1,000 of the vitims of the genocide remain unfound or unidentified.

The commemoration took place in Potočari, just down the road from Srebrenica, where the UN troops were stationed and many fled when the army of the Republika Srpska overran the UN-declared 'safe area'

It was a really moving experience.
