Poppies

These poppies belong to a town not far from us called Mohndorf, meaning poppy town. They produce grey poppy seeds which are used extensively in Austria for cakes and desserts, mostly ground and often with rum added. We had a delicious plate of Mohnnudeln which is similar to potato gnocchi tossed with crushed poppy seed, butter and sugar. Heaven.
