Romsey Signal Box

A visit to Romsey Signal Box was fascinating. The signal box has been restored to working order by volunteers and this signal man was describing how he operated an adjacent signal box until recently. He described how at first 'Bobbies' i.e men with flags initially stood at intervals down a line and would signal trains to either pass or stop. Subsequently the signal box system was developed and is still in use in certain areas.
