Namby-panby

Beware the word Expert.

When I hear or see this word I cringe, it appears and is used frequently in press articles to imply credibility.

The headline in today's Herald is typical. A catering 'expert' is critical of hospital food. Really, every patient in certain hospitals have been complaining for years but suddenly because an 'expert' says it, it's front page bold.

In recent times we have heard of experts on every subject from devolution to Iraq only for many assertions to be later overturned by events.

Time for the media to stop patronising their customers and start applying some common sense.

Namby-panby society needs reality check.
