Spanish Moon Moth

One of the most beautiful of all moths is the elusive Spanish Moon moth. We were lucky to find this in the Spanish Pyrenees near Ainsa. We first found a single wing on the patio of our Casa. The moth had clearly lost an argument with one of the bats living in our roof. Imagine our delight when on opening the moth trap we found this perfect specimen which behaved very well for the camera.

Several other impressive moths came our way but none were so stunning as this one.
