Camden Stables Market, London

Built in 1883, the largest part of what is known a Camden Market is in the former Pickford Removal Company's stables and horse hospital.

Since 1971, the industrial buildings around Camden Lock have been leased from the British Waterways Board and over the years a thriving market has been created.

It is the epitome of London cool. High street shops are banned and only independent stalls and shops are allowed to trade.

Pickfords is one of the oldest companies in England and was started in 1630 by William Pickford. The company has been bought and sold many times particularly over the last hundred years:

* 1920 sold to Hays Wharf Limited
* 1947 nationalised as part of British Road Services
* 1969 renamed National Freight Corporation
* 1982 returned to private ownership by the employees
* 1996 sold to Allied Van Lines
* 2002 renamed to Sirva
* 2008 sold to Team Allied Group
* 2009 the international divisions of TAG renamed to Pickfords
* 2012 the UK operations sold to two directors who renamed it - Pickfords!
