The back of Bakehouse Close

There's an interesting exhibition of old drawings of Edinburgh's nook and crannies in the Central Library. I must confess I did not recognise any of the places... This one caught my eye as it shows how every flat used to have its own washing lines at around 1905.

The exhibition is on the staircase as you go up to the fine arts library if you're interested.
