Thor-rescue greyhound

Invited over to my friend Marylla’s for lunch today to draw and photograph her rescue dogs.

Marylla became interested in the plight of greyhounds once their racing days were over while sailing on the Forth Clyde canal near Glasgow.

She was horrified to find the corpses of greyhounds floating in the locks- for the dogs, their racing days over were thrown into the canal locks from which it was impossible for them to escape.

Marylla says this practise no longer
goes on but as a result of this sickening discovery she decided to adopt a greyhound.

“They make ideal pets,” says Marylla who has three.
Here we have Thor, a ten year old, named after the God of War.
