Is it a Bird, is it a Plane, no it's Superman....

After a late breakfast we drove down to Bamburgh in Northumberland. There was a sea haar that had drifted in from the North Sea. So when we got to Bamburgh you could hardly see the fabulous castle.

During the early medieval period Bamburgh was at the very centre of royal Northumbria which stretched from the Humber to the Forth and was said to be the most important county in England.

We visited the beautiful St. Aidan's Church, which has been a place of worship since 635 by Saint Aidan. Aidan was called from Iona by King Oswald to establish Christianity in his newly united kingdom of Northumbria. Within the church is the memorial to Grace Darling.

We then made our way along the coast to the harbour at Seahouses, but decided not to take a boat trip out to the Farne Islands because of the sea haar.

On the way back we spent some time at St. Aidans Dunes and I liked this shot of the various couples walking along the beach.

Sorry about the lack of responses to your blips, but have limited wi-fi here.
