Church Knowle: Food Fair 2014

The little Purbeck village of Church Knowle has for decades been well known for its annual fete, an event around which many families plan their summer holidays.

Today's food fair in Church Knowle was just the fourth event of this kind. There were about 40 stalls, some inside the Village Hall (seen on the left), others erected in its car park. This year it attracted well over a thousand visitors, twice last year's number.

Purbeck Ice Cream is one of Purbeck's major success stories. The dairy farm where it is produced is a short distance from Corfe Castle. Two decades ago it had just one shop outlet, in the hamlet of Harmans' Cross; today it supplies the Houses of Parliament, and this prestigious customer means that its vans will also be found at a lot of major national events.
